hi, i have an asus G73JH laptop with these specs

i7, 720QM, 1.6-2.eight GHZ, 6MB
1TB, 7200 RPM
8GB DDR3, 1066MHZ
ATI Mobility Radeon HD5870, 1GB
17.iii", Ultra Bright, 1920x1080

my question is how often should i clean my laptop? i heard that the cooling fan should be cleaned and thermal compound should exist replaced every once and a while only i'yard non sure how often. also i tin can't clean it myself and would want to give it to a professional person to make clean, so how frequently should i take information technology to someone to clean?

thank you.

Don't employ an air compressor to do that. Near of the dust in that location will stay inside. You should dismantle information technology , clean information technology with a brush, and alter the thermal pasta if necessary.

if the op was going to take the figurer in to be cleaned then he certainly doesn't demand to be taking a laptop autonomously, a tin can of air will clean it sufficiently. And if properly practical thermal paste never needs to be reapplied (barring extreme circumstances), then seeing equally the laptop was assembled past an OEM I'm gonna guess the thermal paste was put on properly and is just fine.

Y'all don't need a professional.

The thermal paste should be fine for the life of the machine. If y'all're having heat problems you can replace it, but generally you never have to.
All you have to do is clean the dust out of your heatsinks and vents every iii-6 months or so, depending on your conditions. With an air compressor or a can of air (bachelor for purchase at pretty much any electronics or office supply store) just blow air through the fan vents on the bottom of the machine and through the heatsinks on the side - you might be surprised at how much dust comes out. Just keep changing location and angle of your air stream until no more than comes out.

All you lot accept to exercise is clean the grit out of your heatsinks and vents every 3-half-dozen months or and so, depending on your atmospheric condition. With an air compressor or a can of air (bachelor for purchase at pretty much whatsoever electronics or office supply store) just blow air through the fan vents on the lesser of the machine and through the heatsinks on the side - you might be surprised at how much dust comes out. Just keep irresolute location and bending of your air stream until no more comes out.

hey thanks a lot for the easy and cheap cleaning tip! :bounce:
just i have no idea what the inside of a laptop looks like, are you sure that there are no wires or other types of things that can come up loose if i blow air at that kind of force per unit area within the vents?
cheers a million!

Don't use an air compressor to exercise that. Most of the dust at that place volition stay inside. You should dismantle it , clean it with a brush, and change the thermal pasta if necessary.

Having used an air compressor on notebooks and other heatsinks hundreds of times, I can pretty safely say that most of the dust does, in fact, come out. Also, the innards of the notebook are pretty tightened downwards, and so yous don't need to worry about moving cables and such.

A brush is woefully insufficient for cleaning out heatsinks, fifty-fifty if you take the notebook autonomously...y'all'll never get all of the grit in betwixt the fins.
